Have you ever missed the badass looking driveby animation from GTA IV where you hang out the side window of the car and shoot at enemies? Just like you could while you cruised around GTA IV online with your friends? Well wait no longer as you can now do this same animation in GTA V!

Known Issues:
Currently the animation only replaces standard vehicle models from the right passenger side only replacing the original animation's start, loop and outro, and so therefore will not change the van or lowrider driveby animations or any other seat yet.
The animation may not move perfectly when rotating around the car to shoot at targets and may get stuck. This is due to GTA V's restriction of not having a full 180 rotation movement in the seat itself like in GTA IV.
The animation sweep may clip through the roof at certain points during the rotation.
Cops can also do this animation currently and therefore this may look weird at times lol. I have not figured out a potential fix for this yet as I can't see how I could do it in the future but only time will tell.

Do you know where this animation might be in the game files? I want players to use this animation too.
@click7414 Yeah so that is gonna be found in clipsets that contain the enter and exit animations for whatever vehicle type, which in the video example you showed, that was for a standard 4 seater vehicles (taxi). For example if you open up the veh@std@ds@enter_exit.ycd file for standard vehicles it will be listed as d_locked for the try handle animation. If you wanna try and activate that for the player then it would need to be considered for each door of each type of vehicle. Which there are a few types in GTA V. Its the standard (std), lowrider (low), van, and I think there are a couple more that I cannot remember the name of. That would be really frickin cool though if you could get that to work! That's a mod we've been needing but haven't got yet.

@The_Sea_Captain lol Yes the vehicle driver animations of GTA IV can also be ported to GTA V. We tested the idles from GTA IV in which the character could fix the mirror and another for dancing to music and they worked pretty well. Then recently this driveby mod I gave a go, and this was then end result! So it would just need to be brought to GTA V sometime once we can do it! I do plan to make a tutorial soon for showing how I do this whole process, and with that I am hoping more people will get involved in helping me get more of the animations that I may not have the time to do myself!

@GTCinema Thank you! I'm gonna do my best to try and make this mod as close to the GTA IV driveby system as I can! I just yesterday learned where to change the angle blend in/outs and the time for breaking the window during a driveby so I am getting close to fixing the dumb glitch this mod has at the moment with the rotation stuff it does. I have also fixed the window break as it will now happen immediately in any direction just like in GTA IV!

@fooltrueidiot_yt Yeah, I could totally do it! It just takes time to make as I gotta put the system together for smoothing/blending the animations once I finish them. Rockstar loves to make things difficult when it comes to that stuff and all the math involved sucks lol. I'll probably even mirror my older cover mod when I do it as to remember how to actually do it again. But I do plan to bring the cover system to GTA V one day! I did one of the animations a couple months ago for the cover and it worked pretty well all things considered!
