Are you damn sick of being stuck with the same stun gun color across all departments? Want to use a nice LSPD spec green one, but don't then want every department using it as well? Well I have the solution to that, and more! Well, just that at the moment, sorry. Using GTA V's glorious tint system, (you know, the thing you've completely forgotten about because every gun mod ever ignores it in it's entirety) we can make stun guns great again, making us able to have those fancy coloured stun guns for whatever department we desire, without having to resort to *retch* addon weapons.
Modified existing stun gun textures so tints look more like actual tasers. The Regular, Green, and Gold tints are the ones I made sure to look as much like the EUP holstered tasers as possible, the rest I just had fun with, they're still cool I reckon.
Features:
Overhauled tints for Stun Gun.
Almost identical to EUP holstered tasers.
Known Bugs:
Weird pixel blending in certain spots, nothing I can do without editing (and likely breaking) the actual weapon model.
Installation:
Extract the two .ytd files from the archive and put them in basically any .rpf archive that's from a recent update. Or you can do what I do, which is put them in an addon dlc, in which case I'd recommend using albo's one. Oh yeah, also, use your mods folder.

@Decapitated sirens work by having an emissive texture on a model that's hidden inside geometry behind the light face, and when it should show, it scales up by a certain value, 200% usually, that then makes it so the light appears correctly. Apparently it's too complicated to just have something not be rendered when it's not needed, but doing that bullshittery with the wheels isn't. Rockstar logic at it's finest.
@AllenKennedy That sounds extremely unnecessary and complicated. I respect modders a lot more now. How do you guys manage to work through all of Rockstar's BS?
@Decapitated trial and error. I mostly just do what people have figured out works. The guys who push the boundaries of the game, like finding new techniques for stuff, and the guys who make the tools we use are the ones who deserve the most adulation. Example being PNWParksFan, who made LiveLights, which is a tool that allows emergency vehicle modders to spend ten minutes to do what would've taken them hours before. Dilapidated as well, though I don't get on with the RDE guys anymore, the work some of the core team members have done in pushing the game limits is astounding. Siren slot unlocker, new heap adjuster, etc. loads of stuff that the modding scene simply couldn't live without nowadays.
@AllenKennedy I see. Thank you for this mind-opening conversation, and I apologize for taking your time. Before we end, however, I'd like to know two more things. One, I'm surprised to see that GTA 5 modding in 2021 is still a real and active thing with new things being discovered. What are some limitations you'd like to see being removed? Second, how do I get involved? Now I want to make my own mods and stuff!
@Decapitated I'd love to see the amount of sirens that a car can have increased, as at the moment, a car has 20 sirens at most, which is usually enough, but means sometimes stuff has to be left out or simplified. In terms of getting involved, find an easy project, something very simple to start, like sticking a lightbar on a car or something, or maybe just making liveries, changing textures for other mods, etc. because that's how everyone starts. Also, join a bunch of discord servers and look for some inspiration. Lorehub, Vanillaworks discord, etc. are great hubs for prospective modders to learn, show off their work, and receive feedback.
@AllenKennedy Thanks my guy :)! I'll keep it in mind and hopefully get retexture or something up soon.
I was disappointed to find that the newest version of EUP (non-patreon) has removed the green taser tint for the LSPD!? Even though they still use that. So this mod is great but doesn't match right now, which is EUP's issue. We also can't set taser tint in Ultimate Backup yet, so NPC backup can't rock your cool colours. That aside, this is a solid mod and a great idea tbh
@Hyfrith Fairly certain the LSPD belt still has the green taser, I'd double check and make sure it's not just copholster resetting the texture to the black taser texture.
Could you add texture only of this green stun gun?
What is that 1911 on the first picture? A link would be appreciated :)
@rasssse That ain't a 1911, that's one of my other mods, the vom feuer combat pistol, basically a lore friendly glock
@PanShaynik There's other mods that already do that, I made this work through tints for a reason.
@AllenKennedy Youre right, looked like a 1911 to my eye. Thanks for answering!
Hey, how do you choose the tint you want ?
@Mat' I normally use a trainer, such as sjaak's simple native trainer V
Where is the green texture?
How do you unholster the stun gun? (bad english sorry)
How do I make the taser appear in one color in Ultimate Backup?
@AllenKennedy Is there a way to make AI and other peds use the yellow tint, whether that be editing ultimate backup or OpenIV?
@Jeragon186 You could modify the colours in the _dpal image in the .ytd to make the default tint yellow as opposed to black, but if you wanted to assign tints based on units and whatnot, then, to the best of my knowledge, neither lcpdfr or ultimatebackup supports that, despite my repeated pleas.
